Step 1: Your Path
NT Christian College offers three clearly defined senior-secondary pathways: UniReady, SkillsReady, and WorkReady. This provides students with flexible options to achieve their future goals. The UniReady pathways is designed for students seeking direct university entry, focusing on academic achievement and meeting the prerequisites for an ATAR (Australian Territory Admissions Rank). The SkillsReady pathway supports students in building a broad range of transferable skills, creating strong foundations for further education, training, or employment. For those aiming to enter directly into industry after leaving school, the WorkReady pathway encompasses practical, hands-on learning with vocational training and work experience in a flexible learning model.
Step 2: Your Pattern
Your pattern is the combination of subjects and learning experiences you choose throughout your senior-secondary education that allow you to achieve your NTCET (Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training). You typically begin this in Year 10 and then continue filling your pattern as your progress through senior-secondary.
You can include:
- School-based subjects:
- Stage 1 (typically studied in Year 11)
- Stage 2 (typically studies in Year 12)
- Vocational and other recognised learning:
- VET (Vocational Education and Training) courses
- School-based apprenticeships or traineeships
- Community-based activities (cadets, music, etc.)
- Self-directed Community LearningÂ
Each subject or learning activity earns you credits that add up to the 200 credits you need to achieve your NTCET.
To successfully complete your NTCET, you need to meet a set of compulsory requirements:
- Pass Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF)
- Pass 20 credits of literacy study
- Pass 10 credits of mathematics study
- Pass 60 credits of Stage 2 learning
Students on a UniReady pathways need to complete 90 credits at Stage 2 for the calculation of their ATAR.
Step 3: Your Future
Whether you are heading to university, stepping into industry, starting work, or exploring further training, your NTCET gives you the flexibility to shape a future vocation that fits your goals and suits your purpose. Success does not happen by accident—it takes planning, support, and action.
